⚠️ GENERAL UPDATE FROM Seven Oaks Winery and Vineyard Cottages⚠️
As many of you know, the Boland and much of its infrastructure have been severely affected by this week’s storms. We are however extremely grateful to report that Seven Oaks has largely been spared, thanks to extensive preventative planning and the incredible cooperation of our neighbours behind us over the past two years.
Most importantly — our vineyard cottages are OPEN and we are welcoming guests.
There are however a few important points to note before travelling:
Access from Cape Town remains challenging, with the N1 currently operating on a stop-and-go basis through the tunnel towards Rawsonville.
The Tulbagh/Wolseley route is presently open, although conditions may change at short notice due to bridge damage in the area.
Eskom power is currently down, but we do have generator backup in operation.
WiFi and cellphone signal have been restored, although occasional interruptions may still occur.
Tourism activities in the greater area remain limited, as both Bainskloof Pass and the road to Ceres are currently closed.
Guests travelling through are encouraged to bring along their own supplies and victuals, as dining options are limited unless venturing through to Worcester.
As with any post-storm environment, please be prepared for the occasional unexpected surprise as we continue clearing up and restoring normality.
That said, there is also something rather special about the valley at the moment. Crackling fires, dramatic mountain scenery, quiet vineyards, and a glass of fine Seven Oaks wine in hand. Sometimes the best escapes happen when the world slows down a little.
The cellar remains open and we look forward to welcoming those wanting a unique and peaceful countryside breakaway.
Thank you for all the messages of support, concern, and kindness over the past few days. It has meant a great deal to our team.
